Looking back at the date I joined Substack, I’ll have to say it’s been a hesitant beginning.
After a couple of false starts, a little about me.
I’m a septuagenarian who spent most of my working life in industrial construction, mainly in the forest industry. I’ve been a supporter of Objectivism, Ayn Rand’s philosophy and I have a passion for modifying nature with the idea that human flourishing is the greatest goal.
At the outset, if you are a young reader, let me offer you an apology, an apology for my entire generation if you will. All of us old folk have grown up with a freedom we did not preserve. Those of us that have fought to preserve it, lack effective persuasion skills. It is my regret that today, life is far more restrictive than it should be.
In this blog? I hope to poke a sharp keyboard in the eyes of tyranny.
Some housekeeping ... why Substack? It appears to be what blogging wasn’t, a better way to share ideas. That said, it still raises the ultimate writer’s dilemma, how to keep from burying a pearl of wisdom underneath a million irrelevant words. Can I do what I strive for ... concise writing?
Added ... a picture from some years ago. If I find a newer one that I like, it will change.
